GARMENT CARE

To maintain the quality and appearance of your Rhodes & Beckett shirt, we recommend the following care instructions:

Before washing, undo all the buttons. This lessens the strain on the stitches holding the button onto the shirt. Remove the collar stays where applicable to prevent damage to the shirt or washing machine.

Wash your shirts in cold water and wash dark colours separately. Do not tumble dry your shirts. Allow them to air dry on a coat hanger or clothesline.

The best ironing results are achieved when your shirt is either ironed slightly damp or ironed with the aid of a water spray.

All our cotton shirts are dry cleanable.

To maintain the quality and appearance of your Rhodes & Beckett suiting piece we recommend the following care instructions:

Dry Clean Only. Keep in mind that dry cleaning chemicals can be damaging to wool fibres and can shorten the life of your garment. So try and limit dry cleaning to once a season or only when the garment has become visibly soiled.

Do not iron. Prolonged and direct contact of a regular metal iron may damage the fabric and cause an unwanted shine.

Instead use a garment steamer, which will remove creases but also deodorise the fabric. Alternatively have your garment pressed at a reputable professional cleaner.

Always store your garment in a well-ventilated area on the Rhodes & Beckett hanger that was provided with your purchase. This hanger will preserve the shape and drape of your garment. Never use a wire hanger and always empty pockets before storing.

Brush your garment with a stiff-bristle brush after each wear. This will remove lint and debris from the surface which can build-up and result in fibre decay and weakening. The natural wool fibres of your garment need time to rest and recover, so make sure you rotate the wearing of your garments evenly. Try to avoid wearing the same piece two days in a row.

To maintain the quality and appearance of your Rhodes & Beckett knitwear, we recommend the following care instructions:

For washing your knitwear, the safest and most delicate method is hand washing. Fill a basin or washbowl with cold water and add a gentle wool detergent. Submerge the garment and gently massage it. If there are stains, pat the area with detergent, avoiding rubbing to prevent pilling. After washing, rinse the garment in clean cold water by gently pressing it, without wringing, to remove the detergent. If needed, repeat the rinsing process until all detergent is removed. To remove excess water, lay the garment flat on a towel, roll it up, and press gently. Do not wring or twist the garment to avoid stretching or damaging the fibres.

If necessary, machine wash using a gentle, wool-specific cycle with cold water. For added protection, place the knitwear in a laundry bag and include a few clean towels in the washer to serve as a cushion. Use a mild wool detergent and avoid fabric softeners. If your washer allows you to choose a spin cycle, opt for the shortest available.

After washing, do not machine dry the garment. Instead, lay it flat on a clean towel, reshaping it to its original form. Avoid exposing the garment to direct sunlight or other heat sources, which may damage the fibres. Allow the garment to air dry completely before storing. It's a good idea to turn the garment over at least once during the drying process to ensure both sides dry thoroughly.

For a wrinkle-free finish, the best option for knitwear is to use a fabric steamer. Steam the garment from a slight distance without touching the fibres. Allow the garment to cool before wearing or storing it. If ironing becomes necessary, turn the garment inside out, place it evenly on your ironing board, and cover it with a light-coloured cloth. Set your iron to its lowest setting and gently press it on the cloth, using smooth strokes. Always keep the iron moving to ensure it never directly touches the fibres.

When storing your knitwear, always fold the garments instead of hanging them to avoid stretching and sagging. Store them in a clean, dry place away from sunlight or other heat sources. Closet shelves and drawers are ideal storage areas. To keep your garments fresh and protect them from moths and mildew, consider using moth repellents such as cedar wood balls.

To ensure your Rhodes & Beckett silk piece holds its form and colour for many years to come we recommend the following care instructions.

Please use care in tending to stains. If your piece is marked we recommend that this be pointed out to your professional dry cleaner as quickly as possible.

Never attempt to remove spills by rubbing or spot cleaning. Silk fibres are easily broken when wet, which can cause fabric damage or permanent water-mark stains.

Minor wrinkles will usually disappear if your item is left flat over night. For stubborn creases use the steam function from an iron while taking care not to make direct contact. If your iron does not have a steam function, place a protective cloth over your garment and press using the lowest possible setting.

We also recommend untying your tie after every use.

To maintain the quality and appearance of your Rhodes & Beckett leather items we recommend the following care instructions:

Spray your leather item with a good quality leather protector before use. This will protect against water, stains and dirt and will help to extend the life of your product.

Clean your leather item regularly using a leather shampoo and clean dry cloth.

Spills and marks should be treated as quickly as possible to avoid the substance becoming a permanent stain. After cleaning apply a leather conditioner to prevent drying out, colour fading and cracking.

Always keep leather products in a dry place. If your leather item does come into contact with water, blot gently with a towel and leave to dry naturally in the shade. Never use a hair dryer or direct sunlight as heat can damage and fade the colour of the skin.

Store your leather item in the Rhodes & Beckett cloth bag provided with your purchase.
